Diphtheria is an infection of the upper respiratory tract and on occasion the skin. Onset is acute and is spread by close contact with other infected individuals. The incubation period between 2-5 days. Untreated subjects become infectious for up to 4 weeks. On milder infections carriers maybe asymptomatic.

What are the side effects of the Diphtheria vaccine?

Some patients might experience soreness around the area where the jab has been administered. Other side effects include feeling tired.

  • In rare cases, people can also:

  • develop a small temperature

  • feel slightly unwell, irritable, weak or sick

  • feel tired

  • have a mild headache

  • lose their appetite

  • have an upset stomach
