Rabies causes inflammation of the spinal cord and brain which can be fatal if untreated. Rabies is a viral disease transmitted to humans usually by a bite or scratch from a rabid animal (usually a dog). Once symptoms are present, rabies is almost always fatal. Rabies in animals occurs in ALL continents except Antarctica.

What are the side effects of the Rabies vaccine?

Some patients might experience soreness around the area where the jab has been administered. Other side effects include feeling tired.

  • In rare cases, people can also:

  • develop a small temperature

  • feel slightly unwell, irritable, weak or sick

  • feel tired

  • have a mild headache

  • lose their appetite

  • have an upset stomach
